August 2019 Resolution Update

I feel like I usually start these posts off, saying how shocked I am that it\’s the following month, but this month I\’m not surprised but I\’m excited! The end of August/September has always been the beginning of fall for me. We\’re back in school, the leaves are starting to change, the air is getting cooler – it\’s glorious *major heart eyes* But before we jump knee deep into the leaves that are about to fall off the trees, let\’s finish up my last summer resolution update:

Goal Meals Now that I\’m living in an apartment I have to cook for myself, which I love, but simultaneously am driven crazy by. Gone are the days where multiple people are suggesting dinner ideas, or my mom doing most of the shopping, etc. Luckily, I have a few meals up my sleeve to keep me going. I\’ve also been watching off of my goal meals board for some ideas. I did buy the stuff to make one of the recipes, but I made it in the early days of September, so you\’ll hear about it next month 😉

Money & Shopping While I\’m still saving for my study abroad experience for next year, my brain ecologically has kind of been stuck in two places: 1) investing in quality pieces is important, hence my purchase of the leggings last month, 2) secondhand shopping does do good, which is why I bought another pair of high quality leggings from Poshmark. I now have two pairs of good leggings that I love and adore, and I think I\’m good for now. Of course I do have a couple of things on my current  thrift list.

Regarding the Earth Eco-anxiety is a very real thing in my life, but I\’ve been working to not beat myself up as much when I make mistakes. I\’m still working on trying to limit meat in my diet, but have been doing well with bringing my reusable bags. There\’s a bulk store down town that I would like to check out this weekend, which can help cut back on my physical waste. I\’ve also been trying to figure out the best temperature to keep my air conditioning at. And of course, by limiting my purchases of new items now that I\’m settled into my dorm, I\’m feeling good about my personal actions. Also, I feel like I\’ve been kicking butt against food waste. Unfortunately, I really miss my composter at home

Reading I hate to admit this, but I\’m still reading The Art of French Kissing… I hope to finish it this weekend, but it\’s just not really grabbing my attention. I also want to go to the library this weekend to pick out my next book, which will maybe inspire me to pick up the pace on this one. Unfortunately, my Goodreads reading challenge is still at like 4/15. So I have two choices: to pick up the pace or to prepare for failure.

The Blog In the past two weeks of classes I\’ve realized that I have so much free time! That being said, the wheels are turning and I have so much planned 🙂

Much Love,

Jacquelyn
