Finding Me

I’ve been through a lot in my life time. I am trying to become the new and improved me as well as continue to grow up. I would like to take you on this little adventure of mine as I heal myself (again) and become who I am truly meant to be.

While I am trying to find who I truly am, I may as well tell you what I’ve already discovered.

I love history and everything about it. I firmly believe that history repeats itself, whether it be through fashion or the dumb mistakes made by important people. I can spend hours at a time in most museums and fail to become bored. I can also spend hours researching various topics referenced in the modern day TV shows thanks to the lovely internet. My favorite eras are the 20s, 40s, and 50s, but I would live in the 50s if given the chance. History is possibly one of the most important parts of my life, as it ties into almost everything else that is important to me.

Music takes a large part of life. I have grown up listening to everything from Hannah Montana to Elton John. As I continue to grow my music tastes continue to grow as well. Today I listen to anything from Broadway to Rap to Folk music. Some of my favorites include Sara Bareilles, Adele, Elton John, Ed Sheeran, and One Direction. Despite what most people my age say I even listen to Country.

Fashion is also something that takes up most of my time. While for some it may be an art for me it is a lifestyle. I take what others have designed and put it together. While it may be rare for me to be seen in laid back clothes, just know I am rarely uncomfortable. I dream of own at least half of the Modcloth store and wish my family had saved their clothes from when they were younger. I take inspiration from the past, mostly from the 40s and 50s era when I choose to get specific. When I’m not specific, it’s all me. It\’s what I want and I take the confidence that I have to wear what I feel.

Traveling leads to memorable adventures that I keep close to my heart. While it sometimes gets hard with school, I always jump at the chance to leave. I wish to explore the world. Experience their lifestyles, listen to their music, and see their fashions. One of my favorite places to visit is Washington D.C. – I’m obsessed with all the history and architecture in the city. I am dying to visit New York and experience the fast paced life styles.

While I may not be able to travel and live the life I would like in at the moment. I live somewhat vicariously through characters of books and movies. I love the library as well as Netflix and my movie collection. Perks of Being a Wallflower and Breakfast at Tiffany's have to be some of my favorite movies. And I have too many favorite books, most of them coming-of-age (I made a list on Goodreads). I don’t really have a favorite authors, some of my favorite actors include Audrey Hepburn, Julia Roberts, and Stanley Tucci. But while I prefer to read, I often watch more movies.

I am not that incredible artist that can be compared to Vincent van Gogh. I do, however, appreciate the art that surrounds me. All forms of art that is – everything from music, writing (poetry especially), fashion, computer art, paintings, sculptures, and my personal favorite, photography. I takes enough pictures to always run out of space on my camera or phone. One of my favorite apps is VSCO Cam where I am a committed over-poster.

If there is anything I can help you with, please let me know as it always warms my heart to help others. Let’s face it, we all need something from some time to another  🙂

It was a pleasure meeting you and I hope to hear from you again!

With Love,

                     Jacquelyn
