Fourth Semester Review + A Life Update

To say that this semester wasn\’t a little crazy is a severe understatement. Obviously, we were all affected by COVID-19 to some degree, some affected more than others. I went from living in Ohio to Louisiana, then had to go back to Ohio to move out of my on-campus apartment, then back to Louisiana. Then I moved out of my mom\’s house into a little rent house for the summer, all while finishing up the school semester from my computer.

Prior to the global pandemic, I had taken quite a few classes online last semester and enjoyed them. This semester I took classes that were also online-only including Fundamentals of Media Messages, Consumer Behavior (a marketing class), and Intro to Entrepreneurship, which was a 5 week course. These classes all followed very different presentation patterns. One had weekly modules, another followed the same weekly assignment pattern (for example, a powerpoint presentation, a discussion board post, and an assignment every week), and the last had different assignments due on different days every week.

My other classes, which were originally in-person classes, included Fashion Forecasting, Apparel Analysis, and a Florence Orientation class, which was supposed to prepare me for studying abroad but that was unfortunately cancelled. In addition to these traditional classes, I also took a Zumba class, which was so much fun!

Taking a Zumba class, or any fitness class, for credit isn\’t something you hear about often. Or at least it wasn\’t something I\’ve ever really heard about much, but I\’m so glad I did it. Because so many of my classes are online, it was a great reason for me to get out of my apartment. Also, because it\’s a school-class, attendance is required, so it forced me to prioritize my health and exercise twice a week.

Since the end of the semester, and now that things are finally opening up more, I\’ve started working again. This summer I\’m doing some office work at my aunt\’s company, and, like last summer, I\’m subbing and babysitting again.

Although it\’s been a rough spring, I have high hopes for this summer!

Much Love,

Jacquelyn
