My Freshman Dorm – a 2.5 month Check-In and Tour

Hello, hello! So I know I\’ve been living here for a good bit of time now (2.5 months!) but I\’m finally getting around to blogging about my dorm. I live on the third floor of Allyn Hall which is part of the Eastway Center complex. Allyn Hall is co-ed; however, my floor is the only floor with guys on it. The building is shaped like an L and they are on one leg and the girls on the other, so we do technically have boy bathrooms and girl bathrooms. In the Eastway Center there is also the Eastway dining hall and market, so we\’ve got easy access to food!

At this 2.5 month checkpoint there are a lot of good things and lot of bad things about living in the dorms and this dorm particularly. (In an effort to end on a positive note, I\’ll share the bad first.) First and foremost the people here are SO loud. Because this is a freshman only dorm hall, it\’s the place to be if you want to have the dumb college years. As previously mentioned, we have the boys on our floor and they can be rather loud and obnoxious, especially on the days the Browns play (but for that I can\’t blame them). The bathrooms are nice in that it\’s one room with a couple of \”pods\” that have at least a shower and a sink (some also have toilets), and while it\’s nice to have your own little bathroom that\’s cleaned once a day during the week, but girls are incredibly messy… that\’s all I\’m gonna say about that. Also in this dorm, it\’s kind of a pain in the butt to have to walk down the hall anytime I need to brush my teeth, wash my face, get water for Ramen. So basically anything. The proximity to food, however, is a blessing. We don\’t have to go outside if it\’s cold… it\’s great. Also the rooms in this building, I feel are a pretty good size for a dorm room.

Anyway HERE is the link to my room tour video that I actually posted a few weeks ago and below are some early pictures of our room before we truly got settled in (incase the insertion didn\’t work!). Below I put some pictures of what it looked like before we moved in and a picture of my closet (because the video just doesn\’t do it justice).

As for where everything is from, it\’s important to note that I got everything from everywhere! Some of the major places I shopped were Target, At Home, Marshalls, PB Teen, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Marshall\’s. But for the bigger items and the things I think are important, here\’s a list with links:

One thing that I\’ve definitely noticed is that I am always looking for new ways to make the most of our space, and don\’t always feel as cramped as I thought I would. However I am constantly changing things and trying to make it feel homier.

If you have any questions about anything else, feel free to ask below!

Much Love,

Jac
