Semester 1 Wrap-Up

As a fashion student, my first semester wasn\’t exactly the same as everyone else\’s. First off, Kent\’s degree programs are set for 4 years, and you start taking classes for your degree in your first semester. That being said in addition to taking general ed classes, I also took two fashion classes. My schedule this semester included Geology and the corresponding lab, General Psychology, Fashion Fundamentals, and Fashion Visuals and the corresponding lab. While there was a lot of studying involved for my classes, excluding the labs, I learned a lot and had some exciting projects for my visuals lab. While work intensive, it really wasn\’t too hard, just a little tedious. I guess today I just thought I\’d share some of my work!

Before these collages, we had to paint chips for a color wheel and do paint chips for the color families. The hardest part of this project was that we had to paint chips that matched our color mood boards.

For this next project we studied future trends and had to create a mood board for the colors that are planned to be popular. There was a multitude of possibilities, but I chose that classic fall colors that I\’m always drawn to.

Following that we had to draw flats and create a board that really showcased the inspirations and plans for the previously predicted trends. This was our first big project, and I was very worried.

We had to create another line board for our last project inspired by a garment that we recreated. The following were assignments for Fashion Fundamentals.

This assignment was an example to show us how Design Thinking worked. Our goal was to create the perfect pair of jeans. Clearly, I\’m great at sketching 🙂

This last collage was one that I created for Fashion Fundamentals but never turned in because I missed the section where I had to cite my images in APA format. Because I used pictures out of various magazines and had no idea what was from where, I decided last minute to write an essay. I will keep y\’all updated for next semester.

Much Love,

Jac
