Valentine\'s Day: Away from Home Edition

Valentine’s Day has always been a big deal for me. My dad used to always get us stuffed animals and chocolates and my mom continued that tradition focusing more on the chocolates when we got older. I loved bringing cheesy valentines to all my classmates and receiving ones from them and picking out the best ones for my friends. (Tbh we all know that fun-dip was the best kind to receive.) it was so wonderful celebrating each other and loving each other with out all the romantic pressures. I even continued the child-like celebrations through my high school years passing out the same cheesy valentines to my friends.

Today is Valentine’s Day. But this year is different. I’m not with my mom and brother. My high school friends won’t be getting the personally signed valentines from me (which I hope is hurting me more than them for their sakes). But I’m still trying to be positive: for the first time in forever I got to dress up for Valentine’s Day. I still get to spoil my roommate. And tonight my mom is treating us to dinner (and we’re going to Olive Garden – obviously). And then we’ll probably watch American Horror Story because why not.

I’ve never been romantically involved with anyone on Valentine’s Day. So it’s basically a Galentine’s Day part two. And honestly I think it’s better like that instead of being anti-valentines. Valentines I become so pressured filled regarding relationships or not having relationships, but remember what we learned in elementary school. We celebrated our love for each other.

So whether your celebrating Valentine’s Day with your boyfriend, girl friend, best friend, family, or with yourself just remember to love and treat yourself. Also don’t forget the all the chocolate that doesn’t sell today with most likely be on sale tomorrow 🙂 treat yo’self this weekend.

Love you all,

Jacquelyn
