Five Fall 2021 Trends I'll Be Wearing
The other night while talking to a co-worker, she admitted to me that she hates and the fall and winter seasons, but that the one redeeming quality was the fashion. In fact, when fall is brought up, almost everyone I've met expresses love for the fashion. With the boots and coats, I can't disagree.
One thing that is so important when it comes to trends is to try and avoid buying new things that we'll only be wearing for a short time. It's bad for the environment and our bank accounts, and many times we already have what we need in our own wardrobes. After shopping my closet, here are five Fall 2021 trends I'll be wearing this year:

Acid Wash Denim
According to Cosmopolitan, dark washes are out and acid washes are in. While I'm sure some people will complain about how acid wash is too outdated or too reminiscent of the 80s, I really don't mind it. I think it's a fun take on lighter washes and pairs really well with dark toned tops. As far as this specific pair is concerned, during my New York adventures this summer, I wore these jeans at least once a week. In fact, I still wear them at least once a week for my current job. As one of my best pairs of denim, I, of course, plan on wearing them all through fall, too. This specific pair is by the brand Dear John, which I got from a local boutique I worked at in the spring.

Slogan Tops
According to InStyle, cute illustrations or snarky phases on shirts and sweaters are one of life's small joys. Luckily we live in an era where Etsy and small business are thriving, which can allow you to find shirts and sweatshirts so you can really express your true self, while also supporting artists and other individuals. While I do have a snarky shirt or two, I also plan to incorporate some vintage sweatshirts because that's a little more in line with my style. I found this shirt at a thrift store in Montana.

Midi Lengths
I have always been a sucker for a good midi skirt or dress, so I was very excited when Harper's Bazaar said they were in for the season. (I probably would've worn them regardless, but it's fun to fit in!) I feel like they can be so romantic, but they also serve the practical purpose of keeping your legs warm as the weather starts to chill. This gorgeous velvet midi is actually one I recently thrifted from a Goodwill in Akron, and feels for perfect for the season.

Bold, Saturated Colors
In full transparency, I don't have that many options for this trend, but I think it will be the most prominent since Harper's Bazaar, InStyle, and Vogue are all reporting it, while Cosmopolitan is reporting specific colors such as lime green and lilac. I've also seen a lot of bright pinks and reds where I work, to corroborate their trend's presence. While this would be the easiest to participate in, I tend to shy away from bold colors and wear more muted tones, but I got this Reformation jumpsuit over the summer and I have a yellow dress somewhere in my closet, both of which I believe will be perfect for the fall and this trend.

Suit Coats
As someone who watched way too much Law & Order: SVU growing up, I jumped for joy when I found this gorgeous wool suit coat at Goodwill when I was in high school. I wear it most years, and I will gladly continue to wear it this year since Harper's Bazaar says it's cool. While a certain TV show may have me biased, I also love the practicality and versatility that comes with suit coats. They can be worn professionally, dressed up, or dressed down (as I've shown here). If you don't already own a suit coat, I would highly recommend.

Of course this was just a snapshot of some of the trends reports for this season. Some of my other favorite trends include dark florals and mini skirt suit sets, both reported by Vogue, leopard print coats shared by Cosmopolitan, and bold pattern mixing, which both Harper's Bazaar and Vogue discuss. These are trends I hope to participate before the season ends, but I wanted to share them because of the versatility they provide in when and how they can be worn.
