My NYC Diary: Weeks 5 + 6

As I find myself getting a little behind on these weekly diaries, I am finding myself increasingly thankful for all the photos I take, if anything because it helps me remember what all I did and the general order in which it happened.

The third Saturday in June (i.e. the beginning of week five), Lauren and I traveled to Brooklyn for brunch. While at Scottadito Osteria Toscana, we enjoyed bottomless champagne and mimosas and I enjoyed Tagliatelle al Brie, Arugula e Speck, which was a wonderful pasta dish with cheese, arugula, and prosciutto. Post brunch we traveled up to Dumbo to get better views of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges from the water front. It was here that we also from Luke’s Lobster where we had lobster rolls for dinner.

The next day we traveled to Astoria to go this bins-shopping place. While the destination wasn’t quite what we were looking for, Astoria was nice and we walked through some of the other surrounding shops. That evening we also went to the M&M store in search for these mixed bags of M&M’s (I saw an instagram ad about it). While we were out of luck, it was still cool to see everything they put into the store.

My weekdays are not very interesting for the most part, but I spent some time in Bryant Park, went to our favorite Mickey Spillane’s for dinner, and walked around Union Square and the Flat Iron District.

The following weekend, Lauren and I escaped the city to Connecticut with our friend Wendy. She took us to see a little bit of upstate New York (Cold Springs and Beacon), and showed us little bit around the Connecticut suburbs of New York. This was my first time in Grand Central Station and in Connecticut.

That Sunday we had a picnic in Central Park, while it was hot and sunny, it was really nice to just sit in the Park. We stopped at the Whole Foods nearby and grabbed some food to eat while we were there.

The following Monday we had a busy day with Wendy. We met up and went to the Financial District for Lunch before jumping on the Staten Island ferry for views of the Statue of Liberty. After that we headed uptown to the Garment district so Wendy could run some errands. I had never really been to the Garment District but it was cool to finally go into Mood Fabrics and see all the different things in the Trim shoppes.

On that Wednesday I had a rainbow bagel and a Hershey’s S'more’s milkshake which filled me up during all the shopping that Lauren and I did. It was a nice relaxing day since we flew to South Carolina that weekend to spend the 4th of July on Lake Wylie.

Much Love,

Jacquelyn
